Activity summary.

 Day one, Chagga Village,

Arrive at Mkuu for the cultural experience.

You will meet our guide will brief you about the tour and get ready to start your day, walking around the village and meet local Chagga and learn about Coffee Arabica farm to cup experience and tasting afterward visit the Chagga cave, enter inside and hear fascinating stories of this historical caves, followed by banana beer experience and learn how it fermented and tasting, at the same time local dancers with singing beautiful traditional songs and you be invited to dance with them before visiting local mama cook for lunch and later visiting the traditional house and get an insight to Chagga cultural collection before the end the tour and departure to lake Chala for dinner and overnight stay.

 

In the evening at arrive watch an exciting event of a huge troop of baboons returning back the lake from villages they visited to get food

Day, 2 Lake Chala.

On the morning side, lovely bird songs will wake up you, a good time to go for the most beautiful sunrise view after that return back for breakfast and prepare yourself for a day tour.

 

Your guide will brief about the day tour and about the Crater Lake with culture and history connection of local Chagga people and their ancestors who live around, afterward get geared up for morning hike along the lake crater rim to the lake great views where you will pass through the small bush and beautiful savannah landscape if you are lucky enough, you can spot some wildlife and the majestic view of Mount Kilimanjaro, on the way back you will cross through the dried river up to the giant baobab tree where one can climb or just hug it before returning for a lunch.

 

After lunch takes a hike down the lake, a steep descent about 100m deep to reach the lakeshore, where you will pass through a narrow trail with a side rock cliff and lakeside forest before reaching the water and having a stunning lake view and enjoy the lake breeze, taste its water either by cool your feet after a considerable amount of walk or kayaking up to Kenya side before return back and departure back to your hotel at Moshi.

 

Note; this tour can start at lake Chala and overnight in a pleasant homestay family at Mkuu Village.

Good hiking shoes. Bring binoculars for birding. Sunscreen. Hat. Appropriate clothes for temperature changes.

 

Accommodation Option: Homestay at Mkuu Village or at Lake Chala Safari lodge in Luxury Tented Camp or Camping with Safari tents.

Hot buffet lunch of local specialties prepared by our local mamas and drinking water and seasonal fruits included.
